“24X36: A Movie About Movie Posters” Is Now Available

May 17, 2017 — In the Golden Age of Hollywood, the movie poster was part of every movie release.

Small movies, huge releases, they all got the poster treatment. In many cases, the poster was the best part of the movie. Some significant artists created iconic images for movie posters.

But as the studios folded, one after the other, the movie poster stopped being an inevitable part of each film’s release. The age of the movie poster ended, and with it, the artistry that went into each of the posters.

Eventually, however, studios began to notice — alternative, limited edition screen printed posters, were making their way into the hands of collectors and galleries. This tiny industry suddenly was worth big money.

24X36: A Movie about Movie Posters tells the story of the birth, death and rebirth of this industry. Many of those responsible for creating these iconic images speak about the art and commerce involved in this re-burgeoning industry.

24X36: A Movie about Movie Posters is available on DVD and Blu-ray, or you can stream it immediately on Amazon Video.
