Anna Friel Stars In “The War Bride”

February 23, 2016 –The pain of those left behind when soldiers go off to war is undeniable.

The War Bride is a beautifully acted drama about a young woman who finds herself alone with a newborn child when her husband goes off to fight in World War II. To her relief, her husband’s family invites her and her daughter to come live with them in Canada. But she will soon discover that the lovely home her husband described is not as appealing as she had hoped.

Now she finds herself separated from everything she had known before, with no idea if she will ever get back or if her husband will ever return.

Anna Friel (Bathory: Countess of Blood) stars as the displaced young wife and new mother; Aden Young (Dark Frontier, I, Frankenstein); Brenda Fricker (My Left Foot) and Loren Dean (Say Anything, Gattaca) co-star.

The film would win 6 Genie (the Canadian equivalent of the Emmys) Awards — Best Picture, Best Actress (Anna Friel), Best Supporting Actor (Loren Dean), Best Supporting Actress (Brenda Fricker); Best Costume Design and Best Art Direction/Production Design.
