Classic Italian “Giallo” Calls on Edgar Allan Poe for Timeless Spooky Thrills

September 6, 2017 —
In the late 60s and 70s, psychologically thrilling horror films were pouring out of Italy, dubbed the “Giallo,” delivering spook with sides of slash, mystery and the supernatural. From this movement came the intensely gruesome and suspenseful Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key, a film that’s sure to keep you on your toes and under the covers.

Oliviero is a writer and alcoholic that defeats boredom by hosting elaborate parties and abusing and humiliating his wife Irina in front of his guests. Irina, who is terrified of Oliviero’s old cat Satan, finds comfort in the arms and bed of Oliviero’s niece Floriana. But Floriana has motives of her own, and when people start turning up dead in Oliviero’s inner circle, Irina must decide who she can trust…and who she can kill.

By legendary Giallo director Sergio Martino, and partly adapted from Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Black Cat.”

Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
