February 19, 2017 — As we close in on Valentine’s Day, it is time to watch some truly romantic movies.
One of the best-received independent features of the past few years is the charming love story Hank and Asha.
It concerns two young people who develop a relationship through video chatting. Hank is an outgoing, romantic filmmaker who lives in New York; Asha is a lovely young Indian girl studying in Prague. As their “correspondence” lengthens — and deepens — they seriously consider whether or not they should meet.
But, as in all love stories, there are difficulties.
Endearingly acted, beautifully shot and touchingly written, Hank and Asha won 10 awards including the Audience Choice Awards at the Slamdance Film Festival, the RiverRun Film Festival and the Bendfilm Festival and First Prize at the Rhode Island Film Festival.
Hank and Asha is a movie that reminds you that even a filmmaker’s love story does not always have a Hollywood ending.
Hank and Asha is available on DVD or Blu-Ray, or you can stream it immediately on Amazon Video.
