“Hearts Afire” Stars The Beloved John Ritter And A Galaxy Of Remarkable Actors

July 19, 2017 — Some people have a perfect persona. Anything they touch is remarkable television.

John Ritter (Three’s Company, Bad Santa), was one of those people. In Hearts Afire he stars as a Conservative senator’s aide, and Markie Post (Night Court, There’s Something about Mary), is a free-spirited journalist/press secretary who works with him in Washington in this cutting-edge political farce. They both work for Senator Strobe Smithers (George Gaynes, Punky Brewster) and have to navigate Washington’s treacherous waters.

Despite their opposing political views, the two discover an attraction they cannot deny.

The award-winning series, which ran from 1992-1995 (54 episodes) was created by and produced by Linda Bloodworth Thomason (Designing Women) and also starred Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade, Bad Santa), Ed Asner (The Mary Tyler Moore Show), Leslie Jordan (Will and Grace, American Horror Story) and Clark Duke (The Office).
