January 28, 2016 — Happy birthday, Nick Carter.
Carter, of course, is one of the founding members of the Backstreet Boys, the best-selling boy band of all time. Carter, who turns 36 years old today, has been with the group since it began, back in 1993.
The numbers the band has put together are little short of astounding. They have sold more than 130 million records. Their first nine albums made Billboard’s Top Ten list. Of their ten studio albums, 9 are certified platinum. They are also ranked as the seventh best-selling group of the SoundScan (Nielsen tracking) era in the United States and the third best-selling overall in Canada. They have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Their 1996 debut album, the eponymous Backstreet Boys, sold more than 10 million copies even though it was not released in the United States. Millennium, released in 1999, would go onto sell more than 40 million copies.
Carter, the youngest member of the band, has been with the group since he was 13 years old. The other members of the band are Brian Littrell, A.J. McLean, Kevin Richardson and Howie Dorough.
Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of is a 2013 documentary film about the career of the Backstreet Boys. It was shot over two years and included the creation of the album In A World Like This and the tour that followed the album’s release. It showcases a tour the band made to see the hometown of each of the members so that they could learn about the lives of their bandmates before they joined together.
Watch (and listen to) Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of and remember to wish Nick Carter a happy birthday.
