This Family Reunion Looks Like It May Not End Well

June 3, 2016 — Family get-togethers are often stressful. But when the family members have to be coerced into getting together in the first place, things are unlikely to go well.

In Reuniting the Rubins, a Jewish grandmother, played by Honor Blackman, (Goldfinger, Green Grow the Rushes), coerces her reluctant son Lenny (Timothy Spall, the Harry Potter franchise, Alice in Wonderland) to assemble his estranged children for Passover.

The children haven’t spoken in ages, don’t like one another (the father doesn’t seem that attached to them, either), but Lenny explains to his oddly assorted collection of children — a venture capitalist, an ecological activist, a rabbi and a Buddhist — that their ailing grandmother has made this request; so they come, dutifully, but with revenge in their hearts.

Rhona Mitra (Shooter), James Callis (Battlestar Galactica), Hugh O’Conor (Chocolat) and Asier Newman (The Broken) co-star as the battling siblings who are less than thrilled to be brought together for a dinner of bitter herbs.

Meanwhile, Lenny has postponed his dream vacation to referee his unloving brood.

This dark comedy was directed and written by Yoav Factor.

Reuniting the Rubins is available on DVD and Blu-Ray.
