An up-and-coming sports reporter rescues a homeless man who calls himself “Champ.” The man claims to be a former heavyweight boxing legend. He contends that people think he is dead because he now lives on the street.
The writer resurrects Champ's story, largely in order to escape the shadow of his own father's success; the article he writes becomes a personal journey as the ambitious reporter reexamines his own life and his relationship with his family.
