Jack Fisher, co-founder and president of FilmRise, has overseen the growth of the company from its early "basement days" to its current position as an industry-leading film and television distribution company and streaming network. Jack is responsible for all operations, ensuring the highest level of productivity and efficiency. He personally approves the hiring of all personnel, and has cultivated and championed a company culture that fosters a collaborative spirit among all FilmRise divisions.
Jack began his film career as director of the feature documentary A GENERATION APART, a film dealing with the impact of the Holocaust on the families of survivors. The film has been broadcast to millions around the world and translated into numerous languages. In making the film, Jack teamed up with his brother, Danny, to establish City Lights Media, a company which grew to become a mini-major studio. Jack led the production division of City Lights, where he directed and produced documentaries and commercials as well as corporate assignments for Fortune 500 companies such as Pfizer, AT&T, Met Life, and Morgan Stanley, in addition to overseeing all City Lights Television productions.
To handle the increasingly heavy editorial volume at City Lights, Jack created City Lights Post, one of the country’s largest state-of-the-art post-production facilities with more than forty editing suites and multiple surround sound mix/recording suites. City Lights Post provided editing and sound completion services for TV networks such as MTV, HBO, Showtime, ABC, Syfy Channel, and NBC as well as motion pictures and all City Lights Television series. Jack also directed the critically acclaimed theatrical motion picture TORN APART, the story of an Israeli soldier who falls in love with a Palestinian woman. The National Board of Review praised the film: "Outstanding performances... Jack Fisher’s beautiful love story evokes deep emotion and classical romance in a perfect blend of the personal and political.”
Jack’s current focus is ensuring that the operational needs of FilmRise — including hiring and retaining the best people in the industry — are met and on pace with the company’s rapid growth.
